Nokia 5 now getting Android 9 Pie update

Yesterday, Nokia has published the android pie roadmap for its list of devices and also tipped that Nokia 5 (2017) and Nokia 6 will receive this software update this week. As scheduled the manufacturer has started to push the Android Pie stable update for Nokia 5 device. It has been confirmed by the user who received this update and also shared the screenshot. Juho Sarvikas (CPO of HMD Global) has also affirmed this roll out through a tweet on his twitter page.

Nokia 5 will receive this android pie update as OTA and it weighs around 1663.2 MB (nearly 1.7GB). It also carries new software version v6.12E and also installs the January 2019 android security patch. Android Pie for Nokia 5 brings new system navigation, improved settings menu and notifications, Adaptive battery saver, adaptive brightness level, app actions and tweaks system stability.

The firmware update requires WiFi connection to download this large OTA file. According to the source, the software roll out has just now started and it will be available in batchwise. It indicates the availability of android pie update will differ by region, so you need to wait few more days to receive this OTA. Optionally you can also check for the update manually from Settings > About Phone. If it’s available download and install it to taste the android pie.
