Apple has officially debuted their most expected iOS 12 at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2018 event. Compared to previous version (iOS 11), the new iOS 12 majorly focus on performance tweaks, so now you can launch any apps at 2x faster speed (40%), camera at 70% faster and launch Keyboard at 50% speed. Also brings Group Calling support for FaceTime app, which can handle maximum 32 people at a time.
In Animoji feature, they’ve added four new animated mojis such as Koala, Tiger, Ghost and T.rex. In addition to that the iOS 12 also offers the users to create Memoji, with that you can express your moods and customize your personality.
The ARKit 2 adds more reality and immersive experience to Augmented Reality feature. They’ve appended new Measure feature in AR app, which allows you to measure the real-time objects by focusing your camera on that object. You can also share or send the AR objects in Messages and Mail.
Screen Time feature will help the users to track the how much time they are spending on apps like facebook, gaming, websites, and other individual apps. Finally Apple has added the notification control option in iOS 12 - grouped threads / notifications, shutdown notifications from certain app and lock screen notification control.
New in-app camera on FaceTime and Message make the users to create and share a photo or video (including Animoji / Memoji) to heat up the conversation with fun. iOS 12 provides new Do Not Disturb option to control your notification, you can schedule or set the specific time limit to stay away from prompts.
Apple quietly pushes A.I activity to Siri assistant, which means now the Siri will track your day to day activity and gives suggestion by creating the shortcut of the app on lock screen. iOS 12 also brings enhancements in Photos section like For You tab in library, sharing suggestions and search photos by places, moments and people.
The above are the major changes that are included in iOS 12, but it’s not the end still more features are coming with this major update. Apple has affirmed the roll out of iOS 12 will start from this fall. All devices like iPhone (5s & above), iPads and iPods which currently runs on iOS 11 are eligible for this upgrade. Right now the manufacturer has released the iOS 12 developer preview for Apple Developer Program Members.
Later this June, they’ve planned to roll out the public beta program for iOS 12. To experience the iOS 12 features, you need to sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program, otherwise wait for the stable release.
