Android 8.1 Oreo beta update released for Essential Phone

At the end of January, Essential Phone has officially tweeted that they’ll skip the android 8.0 Oreo release, because of lots of stability issues. Also confirmed Essential Phone users will directly receive the android 8.1 Oreo, instead of oreo 8.0 update with bugs. As promised, Essential Phone has started to push the Android 8.1 Oreo update for the model PH-1. Don’t get excited, they were just released the beta version of Oreo 8.1 for their beta users.

Essential has named this update as android 8.1 beta 1, which means they’ve planned to release more beta versions. This oreo 8.1 beta update comes with new build number OPM1.180104.010. The beta update brings two set of features – one is standard Oreo features and another one is Essential product related.

We all know about the android oreo features like picture-in-picture mode, instant apps, faster startup, smart text selection and more. Along with this it includes the February 5 2018 security patch, dynamic calendar & clock icons and also fixes the slow scrolling jitter issue (beta).

These are the changes they’ve shown on the update screenshot. This beta software update weighs in 492.9 MB and will be available as OTA for existing beta users. New users who would like to join in beta program must download the ROM from official site, and flash it on your mobile.
