Sony pushes Android 8.0 Oreo update to XA1, XA1 Plus and XA1 Ultra

Android 8.0 Oreo update has started to land on Sony’s Xperia XA1, XA1 Plus and XA1 Ultra smartphones. These smartphones are currently running on Android 7.0 Nougat version. The fans didn’t expect this update from Sony and they’re surprised with this oreo roll out. This firmware will update the build number of all the three smartphones to 48.1.A.0.116. It will also bump the android version of these handsets to 8.0.0.

Android 8.0 Oreo Update For Xperia XA1 Family

The firmware update adds some new features for XA1 families such as February 5 android security patch, Xperia actions, reminders and long press app shortcut to invoke contextual menus. Along with this it also includes common oreo goodies like picture-in-picture mode, notification dots, smart text selection, instant apps, auto fill etc. According to the report, Sony mobile is now pushing this software update in phases via OTA.

The download of this major os upgrade will be in 883.4 MB (nearly 900 MB). Since the update weighs in large, so Sony advice the users to download this update using recommended connection. If you own any of these smartphone, just stay calm and wait for the OTA prompt. If the automatic update didn’t pop-up on your device, then initiate it manually from Settings menu.
