Moto G5s Plus updated with January 2018 security patch

Lenovo owned Motorola has started to roll out new software update for its Moto G5s Plus (Special Edition). This firmware will update the security patch level of this handset to January 1, 2018. Right now the latest security update is live for Brazil units and soon it will expand to other regions.

Moto G5s Plus January 2018 Security Patch

The January patch for Moto G5s Plus arrives in new version NPSS26.116-64-2. Along with Jan 2018 patch, the firmware will also fix the KRACK vulnerability related to WiFi (WPA2) security. Users who own Moto G5s Plus in Brazil will receive this software update via OTA in stages. Currently there is no info about the exact download size, but we can say the security update will not weigh too much.

As the roll out is happening in stages, so the automatic OTA update will take some time to reach all handsets. Use the recommended internet connection to download the software update for error free installation. Keep the battery level above 50 percent and don’t let it to drain during installation.  To check for software update manually go to Settings > About phone > Software updates.
